Update: Investigation into Fatal Shooting of Murder Suspect at 13350 Northborough
April 5, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the suicide of a wanted murder suspect at 13350 Northborough about 1 p.m. on Wednesday (April 4).
The suspect, Alan Erskine (b/m, DOB: 3-25-74), suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. Erskine was charged with murder in the 185th State District Court in the killing of his girlfriend, Lavandra Stevens, 24, at 4250 West 34th. Ms. Stevens suffered unknown injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Howard and Officer R. Lujan reported:
On Sunday (April 1), Ms. Stevens was murdered in her apartment by Erskine. He called 9-1-1, reported her death and then fled the scene.
On Wednesday (April 4), HPD homicide investigators and members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force obtained information on Erskine's location, the Canfield Lakes Apartments at 13350 Northborough. As officers conducted surveillance near the complex parking lot, they saw Erskine pull out a gun and fatally shoot himself.
