October 25, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 1500 block of the East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 1:50 p.m. on Monday (Oct. 24).

The victim, Gregory Lance Tolleson, 36, of Baytonw, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Gonzales and Officer C. Long reported:

Mr. Tolleson was driving a red Peterbilt 18-wheeler westbound on the East Freeway when his right front tire blew and caused him to lose control of the vehicle, striking the inside concrete divider of the freeway. The impact ruptured the truck's left diesel tank and sparks from the accident ignited the fuel. Tolleson died as a result of the fire. Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the accident.

The investigation is continuing.
