November 14, 2011 - The fatal shooting of a man at 5151 South Willow about 9:55 p.m. last Friday (Nov. 11) will be referred to a Harris County gand jry.

The victim, Humberto Velasquez, 66, of the above address, suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant O. Chandler and Officer J. Johnston reported:

Mr. Velasquez was inside his apartment when he received a call from his son, who stated he was having a confrontation with the suspect, the apartment security officer, in the parking lot.  Velasquez grabbed a gun and left his apartment with several family members.  Upon approaching the suspect, both the suspect and Velasquez exchanged gunfire.  The suspect suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in stable condition.  Mr. Velasquez was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital.  No other witnesses were injured.
