Suspect Arrested in 2009 Fatal Shooting at 12300 Chimney Rock
May 6, 2011 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a male at 12300 Chimney Rock about 2 a.m. on August 13, 2009.
Angel Rosales Gomes (H/m, DOB: 2-21-91) is charged with murder in the 178th State District Court. A photo of Gomes is attached to this news release.
The victim, Phillip Rodriguez, 17, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants B. Harris, T.D. Griffin, Senior Police Officer M. Waters and Officer R.P. Houghton reported:
Mr. Rodriguez and two relatives were at a stop light at Chimney Rock and West Airport Boulevard when a vehicle stopped beside them. A passenger in that vehicle fired several shots at Rodriguez’s vehicle, striking him once in the chest. Rodriguez drove a short distance before he died from his wounds. No one else was injured.
Further investigation led to the identification of Gomes as a suspect in this case and he was arrested without incident Thursday (April 28).
