Suspect Sought in Fatal Shooting at 8322 Park Place
July 6, 2011 - Houston police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 8322 Park Place about 8:55 p.m. on June 27.
The suspect, Jose Antonio Olvera (H/m, DOB: 12-6-77), is charged with murder in the 230th State District Court in this case. Olvera, who has an alias of "Tony," is also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the same court for a road rage incident that occurred about 6:35 p.m. the same day. Olvera is accused in the killing of Luis Salinas-Segovia, 35, of Houston. Mr. Salinas-Segovia suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Blain and Senior Police Officer J. Robles reported:
According to witnesses, Olvera and his co-worker, Mr. Salinas-Segovia, drove to a convenience store at the above location in a white Ford van belonging to their employer. Both men then walked into the store, purchased beer and walked behind the store to drink. At some point, Olvera shot and killed Salinas-Segovia and then fled the scene on foot.
Further investigation determined earlier that day, Olvera had threatened two other people with a handgun in the 7500 block of Harrisburg but did not shoot them. He drove off in the van that he later left at the murder scene.
