Fatal Traffic Accident at 16434 Hickory Knoll
January 31, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 16434 Hickory Knoll about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 29).
The identity of the female victim, 64, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richard and Officer C. Tosso reported:
The victim and her husband, married 31 years, had just returned home in their vehicle (a blue Infiniti 130) from a family gathering. They owned a dog they kept in the garage while they were gone. The dog was known to run out of the garage each time it was opened. So, the victim got out of the passenger side of the vehicle and grabbed the dog before it could escape. The victim was in front of the vehicle as her husband began to pull the car into the garage. The husband's foot accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake, and he struck his wife inside the garage. She was transported to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
