January 24, 2011 - The apparent accidental shooting of a juvenile male at 7629 Teesdale Drive about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday (Jan. 23) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The male victim, 16, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers T. Hufstedler and D. Arnold reported:

The victim was in a bedroom at the above address with three other people when he and a second teenage male began playing with a pistol and a shotgun.  The second juvenile unloaded the shotgun and then, believing it to be empty, pointed it at the victim and fired, striking the teen in the head.
