December 12, 2011 - Charges have been filed against a woman arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 1100 North Loop East (North Interstate Highway 610 East) about 11:55 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 10).

Liliana Yamileth Zuniga (H/f, DOB: 10-18-85) is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 337th State District Court. A photo of Zuniga is attached to this news release.

The victim, Blanca Herrera Lopez, 6, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Tapia and Officer T. Tran reported:

Zuniga and seven passengers were traveling westbound on the North Loop in a maroon Ford Explorer when Zuniga lost control of the SUV and struck the left concrete barrier. The vehicle rolled over, ejecting 6-year-old Blanca, who was not properly restrained. Zuniga and four adult passengers were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
