Update on Investigation Into Shooting at 254 Tallant

October 20, 2010 - A woman critically wounded during a shooting incident at 254 Tallant about 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 19) has died from her injuries.

The victim, Sarahi Rosales Gutierrez, 19, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition. Doctors pronounced her dead today (Oct. 20).

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Wilson and Officer T. Andrade reported:

Ms. Gutierrez was in the driveway of the above address visiting with several friends when a male produced a pistol and, without provocation, shot Gutierrez . Ms. Gutierrez's friends then fled the scene. One of the friends hid the gun in his home, but later called police to report the shooting. The weapon has been recovered.

A suspect has been identified in this case. However, no charges have been filed at this time.
