Suspect Arrested, Charged in Woman's Death at 11900 Oakmoor Parkway
November 15, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a woman at 11900 Oakmoor Parkway #1015 about 1 p.m. last Friday (Nov. 12).
The suspect, Isaiah Hurts (b/m, DOB: 3-29-55), is charged with murder in the 339th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of his wife, Beverly Ann Hurts, 54, of the above address. Mrs. Hurts suffered blunt force trauma throughout her body and was pronounced dead at the scene. A photo of suspect Isaiah Hurts is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers R. Chappell and R. Bolton reported:
The suspect and Beverly Hurts were recently separated, with Beverly living in a woman's shelter to escape her husband's alleged abuse. She returned to the apartment on Friday afternoon to meet with her husband and a pastor for marriage counseling. However, before the pastor arrived, the suspect threw a boiling pot of water on her then bludgeoned Beverly to death with an aluminum baseball bat. The suspect then told his pastor and family members what he had done. He remained on the scene and was arrested without incident.
