Investigation Into Fatal Shooting at La Porte Road June 8, 2010 - The fatal shooting of a robbery suspect at 8300 La Porte Road about 2:45 a.m. on Saturday (June 5) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury. The suspect, Benito Pantoja (H/m, DOB: 9-12-85) suffered a gunshot wound to the left shoulder and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died. The male shooter was not injured. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Semmelrock and Senior Police Officer J. Bonaby reported: Patrol officers responded to a shooting call at Broadway near Lawndale and found Pantoja being treated by HFD emergency personnel. Further investigation determined Pantoja had stolen the tip jar from a nearby mobile taco truck. As he atttemped to flee, Pantoja was confronted by the truck owner (the shooter) and shot.
