Fatal Traffic Accident at 900 Gulf Freeway February 1, 2010 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic in the 900 block of the Gulf Freeway (Interstate Highway 45 South) about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday (Jan. 31). The male pedestrian, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Law and Police Officer D. Brown reported: The driver of a black Mercedes told police he was driving southbound on the Gulf Freeway when the pedestrian ran across the roadway and in front of his vehicle. The driver struck the pedestrian, then exited the freeway and drove to a nearby friend’s house, where he called 911 to report the incident. A friend drove him back to the scene where they flagged down an HPD officer and advised him of what had happened. There were no signs of intoxication by the driver. The investigation is continuing.
