Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 6400 Southwest Freeway
August 17, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident in the 6400 block of the Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) service road about 6:40 p.m. on Sunday (August 15).
Mohammad Bilal Qureshi (A/m, DOB: 5-16-91) is charged with reckless driving in Harris County Criminal Court #8. He is accused for his role in the death of Benjamin Marco Tzul, 35, who was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital and was pronounced dead on Monday (August 16).
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer C. Sartor reported:
Qureshi was driving a white Honda Civic in the 6400 block of the Southwest Freeway when he swerved across the freeway and crossed four lanes of traffic, to make an exit ramp. Qureshi then struck a curb on the service road, lost control of his vehicle and struck Mr. Tzul, riding a bicyle, and then a pole. Qureshi was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries and then charged in the incident.
