Investigation Into Death of Child at 13799 Karalas Road April 12, 2010 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a child at 13799 Karalas Road about 10:35 p.m. on Sunday (April 11). Samantha Sillero, 4, of Houston, sustained head injuries and was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.J. Wilson and Officer M.R. Coleman reported: Samantha and her mother were riding their family-owned horse in the parking lot of a rodeo arena on Karalas Road. The horse, surrounded by a crowd and other horses, panicked and reared up, throwing Samantha and her mother to the ground. The child was then stepped on by the horse. The mother also sustained injuries and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in stable condition. Investigators examined the stables where the horse was being kept and found the horse to be temperamental, but rideable.
