Fatal Traffic Accident at 13400 Gulf Freeway

May 15, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 13400 block of the Gulf Freeway (Interstate Highway 45 South) about 1:30 a.m. on Thursday (May 14).

The deceased male victim, Jeffrey J. Mullen, 33, of Houston, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition.  He was pronounced dead several hours later.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L.H. Lefler and Officer J.R. Garcia reported:

Mr. Mullen was operating his motorcycle, a yellow Triumph MC, and traveling north on the interchange ramp from the South Sam Houston Parkway East to the Gulf Freeway.  While on the ramp, he lost control of his motorcycle and went down.  Mullen, who was not wearing a helmet, was treated by paramedics and taken to the hospital. 

No other vehicles were believed to be involved in the accident.
