Fatal Traffic Accident at 12200 East Freeeway May 11, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 12200 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 12:25 a.m. on Sunday (May 10). A female victim, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identification is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Officer J. Garcia reported: A Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling westbound on the East Freeway at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, crossed all the westbound lanes, hit the concrete divider and rolled the vehicle. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and struck by a Ford Explorer. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was traveling over 100 mph. JKS/JC
