Suspect Arrested in Fatal Stabbing at 9503 Richmond January 7, 2008 - Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 9503 Richmond about 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday (Jan. 6). The suspect, Jeffery Lee Sylvan (b/m, DOB: 11-7-84), faces a murder charge. He is accused in the killing of his cousin, Lawrence Davis, 33, of Houston. Mr. Davis suffered a stab wound to the neck and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. HPD Homicide Division Officers M. A. Khan and T. T. Pool reported: Sylvan accompanied Mr. Davis and another male family member to an auto repair business to meet with a mechanic to discuss problems Davis was having with his vehicle. As Davis spoke to the mechanic, Sylvan stabbed him in the neck and then fled the scene on foot. Davis’ relative attempted to take Davis to a nearby hospital but Davis’ condition worsened. The relative then stopped his car and asked a store clerk to call 9-1-1. A short time later, Sylvan was arrested in the 10100 block of Forum Park without incident. It is believed Sylvan and Davis had an argument prior to the stabbing. VHS/JFC For additional
