Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 3303 Elser #103 August 21, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 3303 Elser #103 about 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Aug. 19). The suspect, Roman Macias (H/m, DOB: 2-2-92), is charged with manslaughter, burglary of a habitation and tampering/fabricating evidence in the 185th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of his cousin, Matthew Andrew Trevino, 20, of Houston. Mr. Trevino suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. M. De La Cruz and Senior Police Officer X. E. Avila reported: Patrol officers responded to a shooting at a residence and found Mr. Trevino deceased. Macias was taken into custody at the scene and admitted to investigators he had shot Trevino unintentionally. Further investigation determined Trevino and Macias had been involved in a burglary earlier that day (Aug. 19). Stolen property from the prior burglary and the weapon used in the shooting were recovered at the scene.
