Investigation Into Fatal Shooting at 5700 Cornish

August 20, 2009 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in the 5700 block of Cornish about 12:30 a.m. today.

The male victim, Hugo Rodriguez, 24, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers R.W. Chappell and D.W. Arnold reported:

Patrol officers observed a black Chevrolet Cobalt traveling northbound in the 2100 block of Arabelle at the intersection of Cornish when the vehicle then swerved and crashed into a ditch in the 5700 block of Cornish. Mr. Rodriguez was found in the driver’s seat with a gunshot wound to the head. An unknown suspect was seen fleeing the location on foot southbound on Arabelle towards the East Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 East).
