Charges Upgraded in Incident at 9850 Pagewood August 3, 2009 - Charges have been upgraded against a suspect arrested for burglarizing the home of a man found dead by firefighters at 9850 Pagewood about 6 a.m. on March 30, 2009. The suspect, Michael Louis Deloach (w/m, DOB: 4-23-82), is charged with capital murder in the 351st State District Court. Deloach is currently in custody in the Harris County Jail. The victim, Brett Elliott, 54, suffered blunt trauma to his body and was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant P. Motard and Senior Police Officer C. Abbondandolo reported: A man leaving his apartment called 911 to report smoke coming from a neighbor’s townhouse. HFD firefighters arrived and put out the fire. They found Mr. Elliott on the first floor of the home. Arson investigators were called to the scene and noted the he had sustained injuries that were not a result of the fire. This case was referred to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and charges of burglary of a habitation were originally filed against Deloach, who confessed to burglarizing Elliott’s residence. Further investigation developed information that identified Deloach as the suspect in Elliot’s death and today (Aug. 3) the charge was upgraded to murder.
