Photos of Possible Suspects in Fatal Shooting at 7000 North Freeway October 30, 2008 - Houston police homicide investigators believe two unknown suspects wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman at 7000 North Freeway service road about 9:10 a.m. last Saturday (Oct. 25) likely committed a robbery the previous week in the parking lot of a northwest side business. Surveillance photos from the North Freeway incident and a robbery of a female in a parking lot at 11077 Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) service road on October 18 show the suspects’ truck as being a red or maroon Chevrolet 1500 sidestep pickup truck with chrome bedrails on both sides and a regular sized cab. A female customer left a business and was preparing to get into her car when a truck pulled up behind her. One suspect got out of the truck’s passenger side and forcefully took the woman’s purse. When the woman struggled for her purse, the driver of the truck (second suspect) yelled at her and told her to let go of the purse. The first suspect took the purse and then fled in the truck. A surveillance photo of the second suspect (driver) is attached to this news release. The two suspects entered a store the woman shopped at. Cameras inside captured their images. One suspect appears to be a white or Hispanic male wearing a green or teal colored shirt with a design on the front, dark pants and a baseball cap turned backward. The second suspect, believed to have stolen the woman’s purse, appears to be a Hispanic male wearing a blue T-shirt and dark pants. The shirt’s sleeves have either white trim around them or the male is wearing a white T-shirt under the blue shirt. A photo of the two suspects inside the business is attached to this news release. The two suspects are likely the same males involved in the shooting death of Irena Yvette Ashford, 38, of Houston, at 7000 North Freeway, seven days later. HPD Homicide Division Sergeants D. Ferguson, J.T. Parker and Senior Police Officer T. Tyler reported: Officers responded to a shooting call at the E/Z Loan business and found a female employee (Ms. Ashford) deceased from gunshot wounds. The suspected gunman was wearing a dark colored hooded jacket with the hood over his head when he entered the business, shot Ms. Ashford and escaped with an undetermined amount of money. He then got into and left the scene in the waiting Chevy truck driven by a second suspect. A photo of the truck is attached to this news release. Investigators hope someone will recognize the suspects and their truck by its description and contact them with information. Anyone with such information is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. |
