Update on Man Found Fatally Shot at 8600 Clinton Drive July 10, 2008 - Houston police homicide investigators have learned the identity of a man found fatally shot in the 8600 block of Clinton Drive about 12:35 a.m. on Tuesday (July 8) and determined the shooting occurred the previous day at another location. Mohammad I. Mahmood, 67, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the lower chest and died at the scene. A follow-up investigation has determined Mr. Mahmood was shot at a warehouse and business complex at 1900 Turning Basin about 3:15 p.m. on Monday (July 7). The suspects are described only as two Hispanic males. The first was 35 to 38 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, medium build and complexion, and had black hair. The second suspect was younger and a little shorter. He was described as being 30 to 32 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build and complexion. He was bald and wearing a blue T-shirt. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. H. Roberts and Senior Police Officer R. Cervantes reported: Mr. Mahmood was driving his employer’s van that was used as a mobile check cashing facility. The vehicle was discovered on the shoulder of the road at 8600 Clinton Drive with Mahmood found unresponsive in the back. The van appeared to have fresh damage to its left front-end. The motive for the shooting was likely robbery since Mahmood was scheduled to be at a Turning Basin business to cash payroll checks about 3:30 p.m. on Monday, and an undetermined amount of money is missing. It is believed the suspects shot Mahmood and then drove his van to the Clinton Drive location where they abandoned the vehicle and then fled. Investigators believe there are other witnesses to the shooting who have not come forward to provide information. Anyone with information in the incident is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Update JFC/VHS
