Update on Incident at 13000 South Freeway February 8, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 13000 South Freeway (Highway 288) and Almeda Genoa about 1:15 a.m. on January 6. The suspect is identified as John Eric Owens (b/m, DOB: 3-11-82) of 6323 Cobalt. He has aliases of “J-Mob” and “Sleepy.” Owens is charged with murder in the 351st State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Kenneth Ray Wolridge, 23, of 5151 Kilkenny, who suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. A photo of John Eric Owens, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release. HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J.T. Wyers and J.T. Parker reported: Officers responded to a shooting call at 13000 South Freeway and arrived to find Mr. Wolridge deceased. Wolridge was involved in a traffic altercation with several individuals driving separate cars in the area. The suspects' vehicles were said to be weaving in and out of traffic and taking up the roadway, swerving from lane to lane, not allowing other vehicles to pass. Wolridge's vehicle was struck by one of the suspects’ vehicles (blue in color). When he (Wolridge) exited his vehicle to check on the damage, a suspect (Owens) exited the vehicle he was in and shot Wolridge several times. All individuals involved in this incident were driving in vehicles with chrome Roman Chariot spoke wheels with one or more wheels mounted on the trunk area. Investigators have identified and located those vehicles and determined that Owens is the suspect who shot Wolridge.
