Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting at 3144 Christie December 09, 2008 - Houston police have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a woman at 3144 Christie about 9:15 a.m. on December 2. The suspect, Ronney Swayne Weems (b/m, DOB: 7-21-82), is charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court for his role in the killing of his live-in girlfriend, Keysha R. Thomas, 28, of Houston. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.T. Wyers and Senior Police Officer R.P. Martinez reported: Patrol officers responded to a shooting call and were told by Weems that his girlfriend had committed suicide by shooting herself in the head. Ms. Thomas, who was eight months pregnant, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital. Doctors performed an emergency Cesarean section and delivered the baby, who was then put on life-support. Ms. Thomas was pronounced dead at the hospital. An autopsy ruled her death as homicide and the cause of death a gunshot wound to the head. Murder charges were subsequently filed on Weems. JFC/JC
