Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Stabbing at 7170 Parker August 25, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 7170 Parker about 10:40 p.m. last Friday (August 22). The suspect, Rita Gail Thompson (b/f, DOB: 1-22-63) is charged with murder in the 176th State District Court. She is accused in the killing of Jarvis Ryan, 43, of Houston. Mr. Ryan suffered a stab wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant P. J. LeBlanc and Officer J. T. Barringer reported: Thompson and Ryan, who are acquaintances, were drinking beer together when they got into a verbal argument. The argument then escalated into a physical fight and Ryan struck Thompson repeatedly with a tricycle. After mutual friends broke up the fight, Thompson got a kitchen knife from apartment #206 and approached Ryan, who was standing in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Thompson then stabbed Ryan, after he called Thompson a vulgar name, which upset her. Thompson was taken into custody at the scene and she later confessed to the incident. |
