Suspect Arrested, Charged in 1919 Runnels Murder

April 2, 2008 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a woman at 1919 Runnels #143 about 9 a.m. on Tuesday (April 1).

The suspect, Lonnie Ray Williams (b/m, DOB: 10-4-78), is charged with murder in the 179th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Felicia Shawnette Mackey, 29. Ms. Mackey suffered multiple stab wounds and died at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Carrillo and Officers H.A. Chavez and J. Robles reported:

Ms. Mackey was found deceased in her apartment with several stab wounds to her body. Further investigation identified Williams, Mackey’s live-in boyfriend, as the suspect in this case.

Information was developed that Williams told family members he committed the murder and was in Galveston, Texas, thinking about taking his own life. Galveston police officers found Williams near the Galveston Seawall and took him into custody. Williams later confessed to the crime during an interview with HPD Homicide investigators.

Mackey’s four children are in the care of family members.
