Incident at 1400 Witte Road November 12, 2007 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 1400 Witte Road about 6:25 p.m. on Sunday (Nov. 11). The identity of the victim is unknown at this time. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Semmelrock and Officer J. Rodriguez reported: At approximately 6 p.m. an altercation occurred between two groups of Hispanic males in a strip center parking lot on the northeast corner of Longpoint and Witte Road. After the altercation, two of the males walked westbound on Witte Road and stood by the victim, who was drinking with three to four other males. A short time later, two other males who were involved in the altercation walked westbound on Witte Road followed by two Hispanic females. One of the males then removed his shirt and charged at one of the males who was involved in the earlier altercation and now standing next to the victim. As the shirtless male started punching the other male in the face, the victim broke up the fight by pulling the shirtless male off the other male. During this time, a few males ran over from the parking lot and became involved in a large fight with the males who had been drinking with the victim. The suspect, who originally walked over to the location with the shirtless male, went across the street and stood by the two Hispanic females. According to witnesses, the females said something to the suspect, who then pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the head. The suspect, shirtless male and two females then ran southbound on Witte Road.
