Update on Incident at 4800 Allendale
March 21, 2007 -- Houston police homicide investigators have arrested two suspects in the fatal shooting of a man at 4800 Allendale about 2 a.m. on March 15.
The suspects, Humberto Armando Palomo (H/m, DOB 3-8-87) and Manuel Juan Gonzalez (H/m, DOB 8-5-59), are each charged with capital murder in the 176th State District Court. They are accused in the killing of Stephon Battle, 27, of 6810 Westover #1.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant O. Belmarez and Officers E. Carstens and T. Miller reported:
Mr. Battle was sitting inside his vehicle in the parking lot of the Concorde Allendale apartments when he was shot. Witnesses heard a gunshot, observed Battle drive out of the complex onto Allendale Street, and then strike a fire hydrant in the median of the road. When police responded, they found Battle had been shot. He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died.
Investigators developed information on two suspects and questioned those suspects. Both Palomo and Gonzalez confessed to their roles in the shooting. The motive in the shooting appears to be robbery. Investigators in the HPD Robbery Division believe the same suspects likely committed other robberies and ask anyone with information on the suspects to contact them at 713-308-0700.
