Update on Incident at 11311 Harwin #23
March 9, 2007 -- Charges have
been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of
a man at 11311 Harwin #23 about 4:35 p.m. on Thursday (Mar.8).
The suspect, Armando Salmeron-Alfaro (H/m, DOB
2/21/86) is charged with murder in the 338th State District Court.
He is accused in the murder of Jose Sorto, 46, who suffered multiple
stab wounds. Mr. Sorto was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital
where he was pronounced dead.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Newcomb and
Officers R. Odom and A. Mares reported:
Arnamdo Salmeron-Alfaro and Mr. Sorto got into
a verbal confrontation that escalated into a physical fight. Salmeron-Alfaro
retrieved a kitchen knife, placed it in his pants pocket and waited
for Sorto to turn his back. As Sorto turned away, Salmeron-Alfaro
stabbed him in the back and chest.
