2nd Update on Incident at 6138 Ridgeway Drive

January 6, 2007 -- A suspect has been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 6138 Ridgeway Drive about 12:45 a.m. December 1, 2006.

The suspect, Robert Dion Williams (b/m, DOB 8-21-83), turned himself in to Houston police homicide investigators at HPD headquarters, 1200 Travis, about 8:20 p.m. Friday (January 5). He is charged with capital murder in the 183rd State District Court and is accused in the killing of Akil Walkes, 22, of 6138 Ridgeway Drive, who died from a gunshot wound.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants O. Belmarez and C.E. Elliot and Officers E. Carstens and J.C. Bonaby reported:

Mr. Walkes received a phone call from the suspect and soon thereafter walked outside his residence. He returned inside a short time later, led at gunpoint, by three black male suspects, who tied, robbed, and then shot Walkes before leaving.

Responding officers found Walkes inside his home.
