Incident at 4800 Allendale December 8, 2007 - Houston police homicide investigators have arrested a fifth suspect charged in the robbery and fatal shooting of an off-duty reserve Harris County Precinct 6 deputy constable at 4800 Allendale about 9:25 p.m. on Nov. 30. The suspect, Cornelius Conway (b/m, DOB 9-2-90), was taken into custody on Friday (Dec. 7) and confessed to his role in the killing of Deputy Constable Carltrell Lewayne Odom, 22. Conway and three other adult suspects; Alan Michael Nickerson (b/m, DOB: 2/9/90), Damion Delwon Edwards (b/m, DOB: 2/7/89) and Wallace Henry Hightower (b/m, DOB: 7/4/90) are charged with capital murder in the 185th State District Court. The other suspect, a 16-year-old male, will be referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a charge of capital murder. HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J.H. Roberts, M.D. Newcomb, T. Huynh and Officer L.K. Lovelace and reported: Deputy Odom and two friends were standing and talking on the parking lot of the Concord Apartments when they were approached by four suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts. All four suspects were armed with pistols. The suspects ordered Deputy Odom and his friends to the ground and demanded money and property. Deputy Odom, who was not in uniform, resisted and began struggling with one of the suspects. The deputy managed to break away from the suspect and began to flee on foot on the parking lot. The suspect (Nickerson) followed and fired several shots at Deputy Odom. The deputy was struck several times. The four suspects then got into and fled in a black Infinity, driven by Hightower. |
