Incident at 8611 Observatory

April 25, 2007 - A suspect has been arrested and charged in the death of a man at 8611 Observatory about 12:30 a.m. on April 10, 2007.

The victim, Howard Chatman, 50, of 8611 Observatory sustained blunt force trauma and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital. He died as a result of his injuries on April 21, 2007.

The suspect, Robert Lee Stewart Jr. (b/m, DOB: 8-7-81), is charged with murder in the 209th State District Court.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant G. Gonzales and Officer R. Martinez reported:

Stewart confronted Mr. Chatman regarding a dispute over money and the confrontation turned physical. Chatman later died as a result of the injuries sustained during the assault. Witnesses were able to identify the suspect.
