Update on Incident at 14519 Almeece
April 13, 2007 -- Charges have been filed against three suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 14519 Almeece about 1:35 a.m. on March 28.
The victim, Lee Perry O’Neal, 56, of 14519 Almeece, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspects, identified as Clarence L. McKelvey (b/m, DOB 2-8-88), Jermaine Nathan Samuels (b/m, DOB 4-15-89) and Homer LeBron Lavette (b/m DOB 1-10-79) have been charged with capital murder in the 338th State District Court.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T.R. Hernandez and Officer X. Avila reported:
Mr. O’Neal and his wife were in a back bedroom of their residence when the suspects entered the bedroom and demanded money and jewelry. O’Neal and his wife were placed in a hallway bathroom while the suspects ransacked the residence. The suspects forced O’Neal out of the bathroom at gunpoint and a struggle ensued. O’Neal was shot and the suspects fled.
The suspects stole O’Neal’s vehicle, which was later recovered at 14100 Bathhurst.
HPD Homicide Division investigators learned O’Neal’s cell phone was stolen. Information was developed which led investigators to two initial suspects. Both suspects led investigators to a pawnshop where jewelry stolen from the scene was recovered. Additional information helped investigators find a third suspect in this case.
