Incident at 5400 Oakhaven Lane
September 23, 2006 -- Houston
police are investigating an incident in which an off-duty University
of Houston police officer discharged his weapon at a theft suspect
at 5400 Oakhaven Lane about 11:50 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 21).
The unknown suspect fled on foot and is not in
custody. The officer, Corporal D. Martinez, was not injured.

Flores reported:
HPD officers responded to a shots fired, suspicious
person call and determined an off-duty University of Houston police
officer had fired his weapon at a theft suspect who the officer
believed had fired a weapon at him. Officers were told the suspect
jumped a rear wooden fence and was last seen running south from
the location. Patrol officers and an HPD K-9 unit searched for
the suspect, but could not locate him. The suspect is not believed
to be injured.
The suspect is described only as a black male
wearing a white muscle shirt and black shorts.
