Incident at 900 South Gessner
October 18, 2006 -- Houston
police homicide investigators have arrested a suspect charged
in a murder-for-hire plot targeting his wife.
The suspect, John Sheroke (w/m, DOB 9-2-66),
is charged with solicitation of capital murder in the 263rd State
District Court. He is accused in a plot to murder his wife, Shelly
Sheroke, 35. Ms. Sheroke was not injured.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. McGalin and
Officer M. Sosa Jr. reported:
The suspect approached a witness to discuss a
murder-for-hire. Homicide investigators were contacted and a meeting
was soon arranged in which the suspect would meet with a hit man
(an undercover officer). The suspect provided cash, photos and
information regarding his wife. A time was scheduled for the murder
to be staged as a carjacking incident. The suspect also provided
his name and contact number to the undercover officer. After the
initial payment was made to the undercover officer, the suspect
was arrested outside of a business at 900 South Gessner on Monday
(Oct. 16) without incident.
