HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. W. Belk and
Officer T. W. Miller reported:
The victim, Jose G. Perez, 26, was leaving a
local seafood restaurant with his wife, four-year-old daughter
and six-month-old boy. After putting the baby in their car, an
unknown male walked up to the victim and shot him several times
in front of his family. The victim then ran a few feet and fell
on the sidewalk. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso
and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male,
20 to 30 years of age, 160 to 180 pounds and wearing a brown shirt
and dark pants. His head was shaved, but had short black stubble.
A nearby surveillance camera system captured
the shooting and a vehicle investigators believe the suspect was
driving in. The vehicle appears to be a late 1970s or early 1980s
two-door Monte Carlo, burgundy in color with a white top.
