Traffic Incident at 5400 Space City Boulevard

May 12, 2006 -- Charges are pending against a driver arrested in a fatal traffic accident in the 5400 block of Space City Boulevard about 10:45 p.m. on Thursday (May 11).

The suspect, Travis Brandon Kanady (w/m, DOB 9-17-85), is facing a charge of criminally negligent homicide.

The name of the deceased male, 26, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer F. Davidson reported:

The victim was operating a motorcycle and was racing the suspect, who was driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse, while both traveled east on Space Center Blvd. The motorcycle and vehicle made contact, sending the motorcycle out of control and killing its driver instantly. The driver of the car provided a statement to investigators and was taken into custody. There were no passengers in either the car or on the motorcycle.
