Incident at 9400 Randolph
May 7, 2006 -- Houston police
are searching for the person who shot and killed a 22-year-old
man on Saturday, May 6, 2006 about 11:50 p.m. in the 9400 block
of Randolph.
Witnesses told HPD Homicide Division Sergeant
Mike Scott and Officer Curtis Scales that Ivan Barrera of 8051
Botany was standing beside his vehicle in the 9400 block of Randolph
talking on his cell phone. A white 4-door vehicle, possibly a
Ford Crown Victoria or a Mercury Gran Marquis with dark tinted
windows, approached Barrera with its lights off. When the vehicle
stopped, Barrera walked to the front passenger window and was
shot in the head. Barrera was transported to Southeast Memorial
Hospital where he died from his injuries.
The vehicle went south on Randolph toward Almeda
Genoa. Family members of Barrera told investigators that the same
vehicle was seen at least twice driving in the area before the
shooting.
