Incident at 1800 West Street
March 28, 2006 -- Charges have
been filed against a suspect in the aggravated assault of a Houston
police officer at 1800 West Street on February 9, 2006.
The suspect, Nathan Laquinn Johnson (b/m, DOB
9/18/61), has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault
of a peace officer in the 230th State District Court.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H. Riojas and Officer R. Cervantes
reported:
Johnson knocked a Houston police officer to the
ground causing the officer to lose consciousness during a traffic
stop of a vehicle occupied by the suspect. Johnson disarmed the
unconscious officer and fled the scene. Investigators developed
information, which led to his arrest on March 23, 2006. The officer
and several witnesses have positively identified Johnson. At this
time, the officer's weapon has not been recovered.
