Incident at 12311 Flushing Meadows
March 25, 2006 -- The fatal
shooting of a home invasion suspect at 12311 Flushing Meadows
about 8:50 p.m. on Friday (Mar. 24) will be referred to a Harris
County grand jury.
The identity of the deceased suspect is pending
verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office. The
homeowner, Sergio Quintanilla, 26, was not injured
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M.K. Peters and
Officer A.J. Palos reported:
Mr. Quintanilla was in a rear bedroom of his
residence when he heard his mother and children screaming his
name. He entered his living room and observed two intruders holding
assault rifles. Quintanilla retreated to his bedroom and retrieved
his own weapon that he kept for personal protection. Upon returning
to the living room, both intruders pointed their weapons at Quintanilla
and a firefight ensued. During the shootout, one intruder was
shot and killed. The second intruder, who may also have been injured,
fled the scene in a gray or black Chevrolet vehicle. Evidence
at the scene indicated the possible presence of three additional
male suspects who never
made it into the residence.
