Update on Incident at 901 Bunker Hill
March 7, 2006 -- A suspect has
been arrested and charged in an aggravated robbery at 901 Bunker
Hill on January 29, 2006 about 2:40 a.m.
The suspect, Russell James Woods (b/m DOB: 1-31-67),
was arrested at his residence at 8655 Pitner on Friday, March
3. A Crime Stoppers tip led investigators to Woods, who is a Hurricane
Katrina evacuee from New Orleans. He was positively identified
by the victim and later confessed to this robbery. Woods is charged
with aggravated robbery in the 178th State District Court.
During this robbery, Woods entered the convenience
store at 901 Bunker Hill, placed a knife in the back of the store
clerk and demanded money from the register. Woods terrorized the
clerk while waiting for the register to be opened. The suspect
fled the location on foot in an unknown direction.
This robbery was captured on a store surveillance
system.
