Update on Incident at 700 East 20th Street
June 9, 2006 -- Houston police
homicide investigators have released composite sketches of two
suspects who fatally shot a man in the 700 block of East 20th
Street about 10:30 p.m. on May 29.
The suspects are being sought in the killing
of Kellen Norris, 21, of 121 East 31 ½. Norris suffered
multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspects are described as two Hispanic males in their late
20s to early 30s. The driver is
slender and was wearing a white cowboy hat with a white shirt
that had a pink or peach design on it. The passenger
has a goatee, is chubby, and was wearing a black cowboy hat. The
suspects were seen leaving the scene in a light brown extended
cab side step truck with slotted panels on the side rear windows.
A photo of a similar truck and the
two composite sketches are attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J. Parker, C. Howard and Officers
R. Moreno and T. Andrade reported:
Mr. Norris and a friend were driving in the 2800
block of Airline when a brown truck leaving a bar parking lot
almost struck Norris' car. Norris had tapped on his horn so the
truck would not hit his car. That appeared to anger the suspects,
who began chasing Norris as he fled in his car. During this pursuit,
the suspects began shooting at Norris. The chase continued throughout
several city streets and ended in the 700 block of East 20th where
Norris was shot multiple times and lost control of his car. The
vehicle crossed through an empty parking lot and stopped in the
middle of the street. The passenger in Norris' car was not injured.
