Incident at 10615 Beechnut #1910
June 6, 2006 -- Charges have
been filed against two suspects who fired multiple shots at a
Houston police officer at 10615 Beechnut #1910 about 3:55 p.m.
on May 31.
The two suspects, Raymond Ledantel James (b/m,
DOB 7-27-84) and Kelly Ray Patterson (b/m, DOB 1-9-86), have each
been charged with aggravated assault on a public servant and burglary
of a habitation in the 262nd district court.
HPD Officer M.E. Boutte, sworn in as an officer
in August 1999 and assigned to the Westside Patrol Division, was
not injured in the exchange of gunfire with the suspects.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Olivo and Officer
M. Khan reported:
Officer Boutte arrived on a burglary of a residence
in-progress call at 10615 Beechnut #1910 when he observed suspect
Patterson walking onto the balcony from inside the unit. When
the officer gave the suspect verbal commands to show his hands,
the officer was suddenly met with gunfire from suspect James as
he (James) exited the apartment. James fired about a dozen shots
at Officer Boutte, who was able to run for cover and return fire.
Suspect Patterson then fired five shots at the officer after seeing
the officer retreat. Both suspects then ran out of the apartment
and through the complex. Patterson was located inside a unit within
the same complex. James was found running through a nearby complex
by responding officers. James' pistol was recovered at the scene.
