Incident at 12221 Fleming
January 5, 2006 -- HPD is asking
for the public's helps in locating a suspect who attempted to
shoot a police officer at 12221 Fleming on Wednesday, January
4, 2005 around 3:33 p.m.
Houston Police Officer R. Adams, while off-duty,
went to the apartment complex at 12221 Fleming to do a follow-up
investigation on an aggravated robbery that happened earlier that
same day. Officer Adams, who also works an approved extra-job
as a security officer at the complex, spotted the suspect and
attempted to question him about the reported robberies.
When Officer Adams approached the suspect to
obtain his identification, the suspect produced a pistol and attempted
to shoot the officer. Officer Adams took cover and fired at the
suspect as he fled. The suspect was not injured, however, he attempted
to shoot the officer several times as he ran through the apartment
complex. It's believed that his pistol jammed.
A search of the area failed to locate the suspect,
however, witnesses told investigators he frequents the area. The
suspect, only known as "Pepe" is a Hispanic male between
the ages of 16 and 20 years old.
