Update on Incident at 3600 Woodchase
February 16, 2006 -- Houston
police have arrested and charged a suspect wanted in the shooting
death of Roberto Duarte Diaz in the 3600 block of Woodchase on
Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at around 2:30 a.m.
Thirty-nine-year old Pastor Berruete Santana
(Hm/ DOB 3-4-66) surrendered to police on Wednesday, February
15, 2006 after his family contacted the HPD Homicide Division.
He has been charged with murder in the 178th State District Court.
Details of the incident are as follows:
Roberto Duarte Diaz and his wife had just arrived
to their apartment complex after attending a club. The wife headed
to the front door while Diaz retrieved items from the car. Santana
was seen running from a breezeway and approached Diaz as he stood
by his car.
Santana pulled out a handgun and shot Diaz one
time in the face before fleeing on foot. Diaz died at the scene.
His wife was not harmed. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H.R. Hernandez
and Officer D.S. Vasquez are handling the investigation, which
is still on going.
