Update on Incident at 815 East 23rd Street

December 22, 2006 -- A suspect has been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 815 East 23rd Street about 2 a.m. on October 21, 2006.

The suspect, Onesimo R. Escamilla (H/m, DOB 1-1-80), charged with murder in the 179th State District Court, was arrested on Thursday (December 21). He is accused in the killing of Felipe Reyes, 40, of 815 East 23rd Street.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Scott and Officer C. Scales reported:

HPD officers responded to a shooting call at 815 East 23rd Street and found the victim dead. Witnesses said the victim was standing in the front yard of his residence talking to at least two other people when one of them shot him. Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot and seeing two people run away.

A subsequent investigation led to the identification and arrest of the suspect.
