Update on Incident at 4175 Uptown
December 8, 2006 -- Houston
police homicide investigators have determined a suspect wanted
in the fatal shooting of a man at 4175 Uptown about 11:45 p.m.
on Wednesday (Dec. 6) committed suicide less than two hours later.
The suspect is identified as Marcus Boone (b/m,
DOB 7-27-84). Witnesses positively identified him as the suspect
who killed Mario Love, 27, of 5618 East Hampton #B. Love suffered
multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant O. Belmarez and
Officer E. Carstens reported:
Witnesses said Mr. Love was at his workplace
when an unidentified coworker shot him multiple times. The suspect
was described as a black male, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and
150 pounds. He had long braided hair and was seen leaving the
scene in a newer model, light brown Chevrolet Impala.
Less than two hours later, police responded to
a shooting call at 758 North Victory about 1:35 a.m. and found
a male dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The deceased
male matched the description of the suspect in the shooting on
Uptown, and a vehicle found at the North Victory location matched
the description of the suspect's vehicle at Uptown.
Autopsy results revealed suspect Boone died
of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his residence on North Victory.
