December 8, 2006 -- Houston police homicide investigators have determined a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 4175 Uptown about 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 6) committed suicide less than two hours later.

The suspect is identified as Marcus Boone (b/m, DOB 7-27-84). Witnesses positively identified him as the suspect who killed Mario Love, 27, of 5618 East Hampton #B. Love suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant O. Belmarez and Officer E. Carstens reported:

Witnesses said Mr. Love was at his workplace when an unidentified coworker shot him multiple times. The suspect was described as a black male, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 150 pounds. He had long braided hair and was seen leaving the scene in a newer model, light brown Chevrolet Impala.

Less than two hours later, police responded to a shooting call at 758 North Victory about 1:35 a.m. and found a male dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The deceased male matched the description of the suspect in the shooting on Uptown, and a vehicle found at the North Victory location matched the description of the suspect's vehicle at Uptown.

Autopsy results revealed suspect Boone died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his residence on North Victory.
