Update on Incident at 4400 Hershe

December 4, 2006 -- Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested and two other suspects wanted for the fatal shooting of a man at 4400 Hershe on July 23, 2006.

Two suspects, Leroy Sattiewhite (b/m, DOB 7/18/84) and Zebulun Dow (b/m, DOB 9/12/85) were identified and taken into custody. Two additional suspects, Mark Chase (b/m, DOB 8/26/84) and Jabarie Jerrell Alfred (b/m, DOB 5/30/85) are still at-large. All are charged with murder in the 338th State District Court. They are accused in the killing of Michael Gaines, 31, of 4604 Bennington. Photos of the wanted suspects are attached to this news release.

On July 23, 2006, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Houston police officers responded to a shooting call at 4400 block of Hershe. Upon arrival, the officers discovered Mr. Gaines lying in the street. He sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots in the area earlier that morning.
