Suspect Arrested for 1994 Capital Murder Case
December 1, 2006 -- Charges
are pending against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting and
strangulation of a female at 8010 Weir on May 25, 1994.
The suspect, Edward George McGregor (b/m, DOB
3/29/73), faces charges of capital murder in the killing of Edwina
Latriss Barnum, 23, of 8010 Weir #6.
On May 25, 1994, at about 2:20 a.m., Ms. Barnum's
neighbors noticed that her door had been kicked open sometime
during the night. Along with apartment management, they entered
the apartment and found her dead in her bedroom. Officers responded
and learned she had been murdered in the early morning hours after
returning home from work.
Homicide investigators had identified McGregor
as a suspect in the 2006 murder of Mandy Rubin and 2005 murder
of Danielle Subjects. That investigation led to the arrest of
McGregor for the 1990 murder of Kim Wildman from Fort Bend County,
where he was charged.
DNA evidence has now linked McGregor to the murder
of Ms. Barnum. After learning of that development, homicide investigators
and officers with the Missouri City Police Department arrested
McGregor at his home in Missouri City this morning (Dec. 1) without
incident.
Investigators continue to examine evidence from
past cases to determine if any additional cases are linked to
McGregor.
