Incident at 9000 Town Park

August 24, 2006 -- Houston police have arrested and charged a man in the shooting death of 29-year-old Arael Sotelo that occurred on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 9000 Town Park at about 2:15 a.m.

Kenneth D. Fuller (bm/ DOB 2-15-88), has been charged with capital murder in the 339th State District Court. Fuller was taken into custody on August 21, 2006 after he was identified as the gunman.

According to Houston Police Department Homicide Division Sergeant A. Carrillo and Officer H.A. Chavez, the victim, Arael Sotelo had walked from his apartment at 5909 Ranchester to his van that was parked in the 9000 block of Town Park.

Witnesses reported that two unknown men, one of which was Fuller approached Sotelo. The men began to argue before Fuller pulled out a pistol and pointed it at Sotelo in an attempt rob him. A struggle ensures over the gun and Sotelo was shot in the head during that struggle.

Mr. Sotelo was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he died the following day from his injuries.
